Bullet Train Review: Fun Action Even though the Story is Bland

Bullet Train Review: Fun Action Even though the Story is Bland : Still offering a cinematic action experience, David Leitch feels stuck in presenting the narrative in it. In recent years, David Leitch is known as one of the directors who often presents various action films. After 'Hobbs & Shaw' and 'Nobody' which received a good response from cinema connoisseurs, the director returned again through his latest film, 'Bullet Train'.

'Bullet Train' is an action comedy film directed by David Leitch, adapted from the novel of the same name by Kotaro Isaka. Starring Brad Pitt and various other well-known Hollywood actors, this film immerses audiences in the story of the Ladybug and various assassins who board the Shinkansen train. They are all indirectly related and have to face each other, unaware of the real threat in front of their eyes.

One of the interesting things in 'Bullet Train' is the ensemble cast which is quite lively. In addition to Ladybug, played by Brad Pitt, there are still various other characters that enliven the main plot . These various characters have their own characteristics and the audience seems to be given more time to understand the characters.

Not only that, the ensemble cast was performed well by the actors involved in 'Bullet Train'. Of the many actors, the combination of Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Brian Tyree Henry is the one that shines the most. The interaction of these two characters is what makes this action film seem more alive throughout its duration.

Even so, the storytelling is not one of the good points of this David Leitch-directed film. Instead of appearing grounded like 'Hobbs & Shaw' and 'Nobody' some time ago, 'Bullet Train' mostly plays with back and forth plots that are repeated many times in order to elaborate on the main story. A plot like this is also functioned as an element to unite the stories of various characters who are connected virtually, although in the end this step was taken to close the bland main plot of the film.

Like some of his latest films, David Leitch still manages to pack various action scenes presented in 'Bullet Train'. These various matches were able to trigger the audience's adrenaline several times, even though this time the director gave a pause which made it not just full-blown action . However, the comedy element that is inserted feels hit-and-miss when compared to 'Deadpool 2' and 'Hobbs & Shaw'.

In addition, the technical aspects of 'Bullet Train' are charming. Neon -themed visuals with an anime -style presentation blend well throughout the film. Camera work and scoring combine to provide an engaging cinematic experience.

Finally, 'Bullet Train' comes with an exciting action show and an ensemble cast that has its own characteristics with a light comedy insert. However, the storytelling aspect back and forth makes the film feel like it covers the boring main plot .
